What we do:
Sr. Battery Cell R&D Engineer is responsible for assisting in
gaining the knowledge on the characteristics of battery cells from
different sources. This role collaborates closely with algorithm
engineers to support developing sophisticated and highly precise
control models in BMS; as well as, supporting our battery
certification engineers and battery R&D lab members to develop
concrete testing and evaluation battery certification programs.
What you can do:
Develop and implement validation and qualification programs for
various battery cell technologies including modeling/simulation
approaches to reducing execution time of these programs
Design experiments for root cause analysis and conduct failure
analysis of cells from in-house testing programs, from battery
suppliers, as well as field returns
Work with algorithm team to develop and execute program for the
extraction of battery cell parameters supporting the development of
BMS algorithms and simulations
Work with our safety and compliance team to develop and execute
aviation qualification program
Provide support with manufacturing line assessment at cell
supplier's site
May require up to 20% of domestic and international travels
Additional tasks as assigned
What you can contribute:
Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, material
science/engineering, physics, chemistry, or related engineering
fields
A minimum of 5-8 years industrial experience in battery cell
development, and/or battery cell characterization including abuse
testing (an equivalent combination of education and experience may
be considered)
Extensive knowledge of fundamentals of rechargeable battery and
battery cell technology development
Strong background in test development and test equipment in battery
cell testing
Experience in identify cell degradation, failure analysis and root
cause analysis of battery cell
Experience working with suppliers
Industrial experience in battery cell manufacture and end-of-line
quality control
Excellent data analysis and statistical model development
skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Must have the ability to independently prioritize and meet
deadlines
Self-motivated and driven personality
You may also be able to contribute:
Master's degree or PhD in chemical engineering, material
science/engineering, physics, chemistry, or related engineering
fields
Experience with using Python in data analysis
Understanding of aviation standard for battery
