will be the first in their families to attend a four-year college,
while 89% are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. They make
an eight-year commitment - from the summer after fourth grade until
their high school graduation - with the goal of attending a
four-year college. In addition, through our summer teacher
residency, we train outstanding college students for education
careers. 100% of students who've graduated from our program in the
past five years have gone on to college, while 47% of Teaching

currently working in the education sector, most as classroom
teachers in urban public schools.Position OverviewBreakthrough

high school transition. In ELA, students will read the novel Love is
a Revolution by Renee Watson, engage in discussion about identity
and peer dynamics, and work on their writing. In math, students
will build their capacity to work with multi-step equations and
functions in preparation for ninth grade algebra. Classes will be
academically rigorous, interactive, and thoughtfully planned, and
will provide a nurturing environment for our students on their
journey to high school and college. In advisory, students will
build community, play games, engage in conversations about high
school, and discuss other topics relevant to their lives. For both
academic subjects as well as advisory, Breakthrough will provide
curricula that you'll be asked to adapt.Teachers will be expected
