Job Description:
Description Lead winery accounting, administrative and taxes
operations while making sure that deadlines and compliance
guidelines and requirements are met. The role implies being
detailed oriented so all processes are well documented and
accurately booked. Major goals are to prepare clean closings
(coordination, bookkeeping, accounts reconciliation and reporting),
participate in insurance policies and claims management, adapt
processes to new guidelines and compliance requirements and support
audit processes. The role also implies being able to produce
simplified financial statements and being able to communicate
findings to the CFO and other top management members. All
responsibilities are to be carried with strict adherence to
internal control principles, including Ethics & Compliance, in
place at Domaine Chandon and Newton Vineyards. WINERY ACCOUNTING,
TAXES AND COMPLIANCE OPERATIONS Act as first referent in terms of
accounting processes in the company (how to process bookings, guide
correct coding of Purchasing Orders and Invoices, internal or
external financial audits, internal control audit, property tax
assessments, etc.). Fulfill the role of Accounting BPO (Business
Process Owner) and act as business partner. Assure communication
with Headquarters in Paris and NY on Balance Sheet and Tax
reporting. Assure that company bookings are in line with MH and
LVMH Chart of Accounts and with compliance guidelines and
requirements. Be up to date in terms of new rules, laws or
regulations and proactively communicate the business impact of any
changes to management Accounting Business Process Owner. Ensure
completeness and accuracy of Financial Statements Lead and
coordinate closing processes and manage reporting calendar and
deadlines Ensure integrity and exhaustivity of processes in SAP
regarding closing process Ensure proper and organized storage of
accounting documents, any support calculations, and according to:
legal requirements/rules/norms/guidelines accounting
principles/rules/norms/guidelines/COA fiscal
requirements/rules/norms/guidelines Assure closing reporting of BS,
Tax and Cash in SyRUS Adapt systems in order to reflect any changes
that may impact financial bookings or to ensure compliant
necessities Responsible for reconciliation of assigned Balance
Sheet accounts Reviews and enters manual accruals and exceptions in
order to maintain consistency and internal controls Responsible for
investigating, identifying and resolving issues relating to the
general ledger accounting Prepare & document recurring and
adjusting journal entries as necessary Provide support and training
as necessary to ensure a proper accounting process Assure accurate
(based on solid calculation models in excel) of any required report
regarding fiscal or municipal/state/national authorities : Alcohol
and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), State of California
Winegrower and Distilled Spirits, State Board of Equalization,
County Tax Collectors, and various other taxing/reporting agencies
Amongst others: track annual property tax billing from local county
governments for both wineries. Ensure accuracy of billing and
timely payment of property taxes. Develop and execute appropriate
amortization of pre-paid property taxes in Companies' general
ledger. File property tax statements. Assure the management,
updating, and maintenance of all applicable business licenses and
permits for both wineries Ensure processes requiring segregation of
duties are followed in order to maintain the integrity of
information and prevent fraud ADMINISTRATIVE OPERATIONS Responsible
for creating, maintaining and communicating policies and procedures
relating to assigned accounting processes Maintain and track
appropriate list of personnel with TTB Power of Attorney (POA)
Assure the update and creation of every process for the position
Assist on Legal and coordinate insurance on the following topics
Coordinate policies renewal process with LVMH Inc Communicate with
lawyers the changes regarding Bank Powers, Company signing rights,
etc. Assist on creating purchase orders for Finance Expenses on
Legal, Insurance and Staff Costs TAXES & EQUITY Assure calculation,
and, analysis, reconciliation and bookings for: Excise Tax Income
Tax (including Income Tax filings documentation coordinated by LVMH
Inc.) Local and State property and grape growing taxes and
assessments Sales Tax Sales Tax on purchases CA Recycle Tax and
other ad hoc fees as per State requirements Duties on Importations
on imports of dry goods Pension Plans Ensure proper archiving of
accounting documents, according to legal requirements. Execute
reporting to and manage communications with Company's insurance
agents Manage and maintain both wineries' vineyard insurance
policies Develop and execute appropriate amortization of pre-paid
insurances fees Administer and follow through all filed insurance
claims BUSINESS PARTNERING & PROJECT MANAGEMENT Proactively
communicate with management any potential risks as well as
opportunities for improvement, and provide recommendations to
management Challenge and upgrade the efficiency of accounting
processes: application of professional judgment is expected to
streamline and optimize these processes with consideration of the
impact across the finance department and the business. Serve as key
advisor to General Accounting Manager (GAM) and CFO to ensure
processes requiring segregation of duties are followed in order to
maintain the integrity of information and prevent fraud. Advisor to
executive management on preventative measures to reduce potential
liabilities for both wineries Ad-hoc projects. For instance:
Upgrade of GL Reconciliation Master Files on assigned GL accounts
Structured mapping between SAP, SyRUS and Topaz, BS P&L
Requirements Education : Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or in
related field required (requirement may be waived with enough
professional experience); incumbent is grandfathered into position
and exempt from this requirement Languages : English fluent, French
(a plus), Spanish (desirable) Professional experience & know how :
5-7 years in Accounting Department of mid-sized companies (MH
experience could be determinant, LVMH is highly valuable) or 3-4
years in Big Four as auditor or financial consultant on accounting
process. 1-2 years' experience in winery industry is a plus
Technical & management skills : Extraordinary excel skills. Evident
expertise on Accounting principles and compliance management.
Knowledge of fiscal norms/rules. Accounting ERP experience is
excluding factor except for Big4 or group candidates (SAP knowledge
could be considered as determinant) Personal & interpersonal skills
: Curious, hands-on, and likes to get involved with the business.
Proactive in search of small projects aiming at improving
departments efficiency, team player, excellent organizational
skills and detail oriented. Likes to be considered as someone that
works well. Strong analytical skills Time Management : Effectively
accomplish multiple tasks and deadlines by documenting, tracking,

issues and support the accounting team and the business without
