Pinterest.--- Position Overview: The Senior Tax Accountant applies
a solid understanding of accounting principles to help improve
Zenni's indirect tax compliance as well as international VAT/GST
compliance. Works in the areas of indirect tax, intercompany
transactions, and other related fields to support the Tax and
Technical Accounting area. Processes and maintains accounting
records, and prepares internal reports and external statutory
filings. Communicates in a close-knit team environment.
Collaborates and coordinates with team members and others to be
highly productive and meet deadlines. Always establishes ownership
of the job duties, including while working remotely. What we want
you to own in this role:
- Monthly EU IOSS filing through Avalara VAT or other
systems
- Prepare and file periodic statutory reports for multiple
entities and authorities, including Use Tax, CAT, GST, 571-L
- Assist with tax payment preparation, sales tax system updates,
and maintenance
- Monitor the AvaTax system and alert the team of any unusual
transactions
- Collaborate with other functional teams on system testing and
new market expansion
- Review sales and use tax exemption certificates for validity
and enter customer exemption status into AvaTax in a timely
fashion; track pending expirations and pursue updated
certificates
- Taxability review and audit defense, including working with IT
on extracting reports, and analyzing any discovered variances, tax
preparation, and filing
- Transfer pricing-related activities and maintain relevant
records
- Monitor changes as they relate to our First Sale program;
collaborate with shipping/customs to ensure FS compliance
- Assist with FS annual review of internal procedures; update and
maintain related documents or memorandums
- Create and maintain various internal work papers,
documentation, and internal memos and keep track of changes
- Support Sr. Accounting Manager and other team members with ad
hoc projects related to process improvement, technological
advancements
- Maintain accounting bookings and reconciliations for multiple
small entities, update Excel tracking files
- Prepare loan agreements and accrued interest schedule, update
periodic bookings
- Analyze general ledger activity and reconciliations for
discrepancies, especially those impacting inter-company
transactions, and bring them to the Accounting Manager's
attention
- Month-end scheduling as it relates to tax, inter-company, and
transfer pricing and playing a supporting role in the close process
- Prepare reconciliations, financial statements, and reports
- Research reconciling items, and prepare journal entries to
reflect various business transactions and the financial position of
multiple entities
- Work with other functional departments on new business
initiatives
- Proactively identify issues and assist in upgrading and
optimizing accounting processes to shorten the close timeline
- Monitor communications with multi-state tax authorities and
alert manager of issues that need to be addressed
- Interface between internal and external parties with a high
level of discretion and confidentiality
- Assist with the recovery of unclaimed property Minimum
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- 5 years' indirect tax work experience preferred with Big 4
accounting firms or tax authorities
- Experience using tax software, such as NetSuite, AvaTax,
QuickBooks desktop, and bill.com preferred
- Advanced Excel skills are required
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing
priorities.
- Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently
- Strong communication, analytical, and writing skills, with an
emphasis on efficiency and conciseness
- Meticulous and thorough with excellent organizational
skills.
- Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and professionalism in
all aspects of work.
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including
preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Minimum 6+ years' payroll processing experience with 3+ years
of supervisory experience, preferred experience with Rippling
payroll.
- Excellent customer service skills, both in writing and
verbally.
- Positive, strong work ethic, and a team player.
- Ability to communicate both in writing and verbally to a wide
range of audiences.
- Strong ability to prioritize assignments, deal with
interruptions, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and
growth-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.
