As a Senior Accountant on the Finance team at Apartment List, you will work in a fast paced environment focused on building and scaling processes for a high growth and profitable tech start-up. The Finance team is very well respected across the organization and is a critical component of the organization's future success. We're looking for an analytical and motivated person to help enhance financial reporting, implement controls, own an efficient monthly close, and be an integral part of building out the processes of a best-in-class accounting function.   • You have a bachelor's or higher degree in accounting or business with an emphasis in accounting, a CPA, and 2-4 years of public accounting experience
  • You have experience with various accounting cycles (payables, payroll, prepaids, fixed assets, revenue, cash) and internal controls
  • You have some experience with public companies, preferably in the tech world; marketplace experience would be ideal but not required
  • Your Excel skills are elite; you may also have experience with NetSuite and financial reporting tools
  • You're eager, ready to innovate, and adaptable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • You're a self-starter who takes the initiative, is dedicated and is ready to seize ownership of processes and projects
  • Your attention to detail (with swift execution) is excellent
  • You have excellent communication and people skills - Apartment List's biggest strength is its people
  • You have willingness to receive and implement feedback
  • You are organized and able to clearly prioritize and manage tasks, including clear communication of status updates when needed

    • Work closely with the Accounting Manager to implement a faster monthly close, including innovating and developing new processes to scale with the Company
    • Be responsible for month-end close cycles and applicable accounting transactions
    • Own applicable business cycles and applicable accounting transactions
    • Own external audit process, including preparation of deliverables, as well as communicating and confidently addressing any questions of external auditors
    • Identify and research technical reporting issues and drive enhancements to financial reporting
    • Implement reporting and transaction controls
