Our client, a luxury retail company in the North Bay, is looking for a Tax Leader to join their accounting team. As one of the fastest growing, most innovative players in their industry, this company is reinventing the consumer experience and has exhibited their success through their strong performance. Reporting into their VP of Tax, This position will be responsible for all indirect tax compliance, audits, and monthly financial statement close.ResponsibilitiesTax CompliancePreparation of information requests for annual federal, state and international corporate tax returnsManage monthly process for 300 + sales and use tax returns prepared by a third providerReview sales and use tax returnsProcess estimated tax and tax return payments utilizing a third providerEnsure timely completion of complianceSales and Use Tax AccountingPrepare and review monthly reconciliations for various sales, use, business licenses, and other miscellaneous tax accountsPreparation and review of monthly tax reserve schedulesPartner as needed with internal and external auditors and other departments to communicate accrual and expense activity, changes in tax rates Tax Audit AssistanceExperience with sales and use tax audits working directly with taxing auhtoritiesProvide hands-on support for multiple tax auditsEngage with team on audit strategyUnclaimed Property ComplianceExperience with unclaimed propertyPreparation of information requests for annual returns prepared by a third providerPrepare and review monthly reconciliations and tracking schedulesOtherSpecial Projects - Perform special research projects as required and communicate results effectively to managementEvaluate and implement tax planning opportunitiesAbility to engage with a broader group of non-tax personnel within the companyPartner with departments to develop, execute and follow-up with internal compliance reviewsCollaborate with third party tax advisors and other department managers to support overall goals and objectivesKeep abreast of tax law developments through research, reading, and continuing educationQualificationsBachelors of Science in Accounting or FinanceCPA preferredMasters of Tax is a plusTax experience with public accounting or comparable industry experience, including Tax Manager levelProficient in US federal and state tax lawsExperience with multi-state sales and use tax compliance and auditsWorking knowledge of tax preparation and tax research softwareAdvanced Microsoft Office knowledge, specifically ExcelKnowledge of Vertex O, Oracle, CW and Salesforce.comRetail industry experience a plusLive and teach Our Core Values, Our Leadership Contract, and Leadership is a Choice Excellent verbal and written communications skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to handle multiple priorities in efficient mannerAbility to plan, organize, complete work with minimal supervision and meet deadlinesOutstanding organizational skillsProven ability to use tax knowledge and previous experience to add value and achieve results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and is energized by constant change.Excellent data & analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.Exceptional organizational and time management skills; must have an ability to manage deadlines.Strong written and verbal communication skills with a service approach.Prepare various management reports and ability to effectively communicateStrong Excel skills are a must.
