Job Description:

Duties:

Will lead capacity planning to ensure system performance meets future

business needs. Will prepare business plans, including recommendations for

upgrades and new systems and/or databases. Will provide and implement

performance and tuning recommendations of all components in the Database

machines. Will ensure consistent backups using RMAN and consistent DR

databases using Data Guard. Will provide guidance to ensure machines are

configured to meet internal security requirements. Will establish

appropriate procedures and guidelines to pursue, track and document Service

Requests (SRs). Will analyze and determine the feasibility of leveraging

the Oracle Enterprise Manager solution to report on performance, provide

metrics, set up alerts and threshold criteria and become the centralized

proactive maintenance solution for Exadata distributions. Will triage

alerts and database performance. Will perform Root Cause analysis for

issues and addresses them timely. Will conduct UNIX shell scripting,

address Exadata Hardware alerts and issues. Will monitor and maintain

critical hardware information for the database machine. Will ensure

database change management, code governance and best practices are

followed. Will oversee software and firmware maintenance of the Database

servers in the Database machine including upgrades and patching. Will

oversee software and firmware maintenance of the Exadata storage servers in

the Database machine including upgrades and patching. Will oversee

software and firmware maintenance of the InfiniBand switches in the

Database machine including upgrades and patching. Will partner with Oracle

to patch Exadata servers in time. Will provide on call database support.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent foreign education) in Computer Information

Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Technology, or a related

field plus 5 years’ experience configuring and supporting Oracle Exadata in

Data Warehouse environment.

OR, in the alternative:

Master's degree (or equivalent foreign education) in Computer Information

Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Technology, or a related

field plus 3 years’ experience configuring and supporting Oracle Exadata in

Data Warehouse environment.

Special Requirements:

1. Demonstrated expertise in the installation and configuration of Oracle

Exadata Database Machine (Exadata) X3-8.

2. Demonstrated expertise in setting up data replication using Oracle

Golden Gate 11g.

3. Demonstrated expertise in the installation and configuration of Oracle

Enterprise Manager 12c (OEM).

4. Demonstrated expertise patching using Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c

(OEM) and silent upgrade of Oracle databases using Database Upgrade

Assistance (DBUA).
