This posting covers multiple openings for the position described.

Will develop process design for biologics and pharmaceutical industry

projects including User Requirement Specifications (URSs), Process Flow

Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment

specifications, designs, datasheets, and process descriptions. Will

perform biochemical engineering calculations and analyses of human

therapeutic protein and diagnostic protein manufacturing process

operations, including wild type and recombinant bacterial fermentation,

recombinant mammalian cell culture, human plasma fractionation, cell lysis,

product recovery, large-scale chromatography, membrane separation,

bioprocess washing and sterilizing support systems, single-use process

systems, Clean in Place (CIP) systems, water for injection and United

States Pharmacopeia (USP)-purified water (PW) production and distribution

systems, pure steam production and distribution systems, and bio-waste

capture and kill systems. Will perform process simulation and sizing

analysis of complex biochemical processes, including discrete time and

motion analysis of batch processes, as well as analysis of throughput and

debottlenecking. Will interface with and provides technical coordination

to other design disciplines including Architecture, Structural and

Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) Engineers. Will perform site

investigations and project support, including resolution of design

conflicts and testing of new equipment. Will lead design efforts on small

to mid-size projects. Will serve as a subject matter expert on process

technology for at least one biochemical engineering primary unit

operation. Will interface with clients as a Technical Lead or Project

Manager for small to mid-size projects. Will participate in forecasting

and budgeting projects, capital cost estimating from conceptual designs,

and interpreting client requirements.

Up to 30% international and domestic travel may be required, often on short

notice.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical

Engineering, Biological Engineering or related field (willing to accept

foreign education equivalent) as well as 5 years of experience performing

bioprocess engineering in an engineering firm or biopharmaceutical company

or, alternatively, a Master's degree and 3 years of experience as noted

above. Also requires: demonstrated experience designing critical utility

systems, including USP-PW, Water for Injection (WFI), Clean Steam and cGMP

processes; demonstrated experience with the entire biopharmaceutical

project life cycle, including project initiation, design phase activities,

and validation activities; demonstrated expertise (academic or job

experience) in one or both of the following process technologies: 1)

Fermentation and Cell Culture or 2) Downstream Operations and Protein

Purification; and, demonstrated expertise participating in business

development activities, including the development and presentation of

client and technical meeting presentations and papers.
